Ngay trước thềm sự kiện CES 2013 sắp diễn ra tại Las Vegas (Mỹ) (từ ngày 7 - 11/1/2013), NVIDIA đã chính thức công bố về phiên bản mới nhất trong dòng chip điện thoại Tegra của mình - Tegra 4, chip lõi tứ dựa trên kiến trúc ARM Cortex-A15 với 72 nhân xử lý đồ họa (GPU) cho tốc độ xử lý nhanh gấp 6 lần chip tiền nhiệm Tegra 3. Cùng với sự ra mắt của chip Tegra 4 tại sự kiện này là sự ra mắt của Project Shield - hệ máy chơi game cầm tay (handheld) chạy hệ điều hành Android sử dụng chip Tegra 4, và ARMA Tactics - một game bắn súng theo lượt cực kỳ hấp dẫn được thiết kế dành riêng cho chip Tegra 4 (và tất nhiên là cả iOS), thông qua một bản demo.
